• Our client, Taronga Zoo is committed to a shared future for wildlife, people through its environmental leadership.
• As a world-leading conservation organisation it has committed to several ambitious sustainability targets around carbon emissions, electricity, water, and waste diversion.
• Taronga needed to link multiple independent monitoring and control systems to avoid significant manual data collection and analytics to achieve their goals.

Avani's Solution

• Integrated the myriad of pre-existing bespoke building systems, including lighting control, pumping systems, and utility metering to the Avani platform.
• Standardised access and visualisation of their data across two sites (Taronga Zoo, Sydney and Western Plains Zoo, Dubbo) streamlining manual processes and improving data quality.
• Automated reporting through data collection and analytics.

Outcomes

• Supported the ambitious Taronga sustainability strategy through visibility and enabling a targeted approach to reducing emissions.
• Enabled Taronga’s sustainability and asset management teams to achieve their sustainability goals by monitoring utility usage trends, setting alerts for over-consumption and validation of consumption against utility bills.
• Removed manual monitoring requirements by automating data collection from over 500 devices.
• Automated sustainability reporting such as onsite solar PV generation.
• Adopted a single interface for the monitoring and control of all building management systems.
